City Capital Partners began operations on 28 March 2005 with the mission of providing high quality private equity advice with respect to both fund of funds and general partner (GP) funds. For many investors the combination of fund of funds and GPs offers a more efficient means of accessing the market and helps reduce the impact of fund of funds costs. This is an area of consulting where fiduciaries have traditionally had limited choice, with many providers focusing on either fund of funds or GPs to the detriment of the other. Furthermore many consultants that advise on GPs do not enjoy a good relationship with fund of funds groups as a consequence. City Capital Partners canvassed the leading fund of funds groups prior to establishment to avoid this issue, and the ongoing progress has confirmed fund of funds groups’ willingness to work with City Capital Partners. City Capital Partners advises on all private equity investment, including: • the benefits and drawbacks of the asset class, • what considerations to make in the assumptions for the asset class in asset liability modelling exercises, • how to build a portfolio of managers, including the selection of appropriate managers, • how to manage a portfolio over time to achieve the desired level of investment.
