The Lomax Companies
Our roots trace back to 1958, where our cofounder, physician and businessman Walter P. Lomax, Jr., MD (pictured treating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr) converted a row home and grocery store in South Philadelphia into a full-service community medical center. From these humble beginnings, Dr. Lomax built a six office, 22 physician practice based upon a simple but powerful business philosophy: to provide high quality services within underserved communities. Following his retirement from the practice of medicine after 32 years, Dr. Lomax and his children founded, built and exited two health insurance companies. Since 2002, The Lomax Companies has operated as a family business and investment office.
The Lomax Companies is a Philadelphia-area family investment office with a multi-generational healthcare heritage, having founded and exited two health insurance companies before transitioning to a permanent-capital investment partnership in 2002. No current dental or healthcare-services platform holdings are publicly confirmed, but the firm's healthcare DNA and holdco structure make it a plausible long-term acquirer of healthcare-services platforms including dental.
The Lomax Companies explicitly describes itself as a family business and investment office with deep healthcare roots (physician-founded, built and exited two health insurance companies), operating since 2002 as a permanent-capital holdco — a credible platform acquirer in healthcare services and a plausible dental-rollup buyer.
