Hey Naimish — similar path (IB → PE), though I was in London doing growth equity not in the lower middle market like you. been thinking a lot about A&E origination lately. would be good to connect.
Hey Naimish, similar IB → PE path, though I was at Greenhill in London not Merrill in the states. origination was always the same story for me — clear thesis, decent relationships, but no proprietary system of record tying anything together. the people, tools and ideas stayed disconnected so every deal was basically sourced from scratch. nothing ever compounded. curious if that's still how most funds operate or if I'm behind the times? — Russ
Hey Naimish, looks like we share a similar IB → PE background, though I was in London doing european growth deals at Greenhill and Treis not in the midwest buying and building A&E platforms like you. the pattern I keep seeing with most funds is weirdly consistent — strong thesis, solid network, but no proprietary system of record. the people, tools and ideas are never really connected, so every deal is virtually sourced from scratch. nothing compounds on itself. curious if that resonates or if you've built something different at Providus? — Russ
hey Naimish — no worries if the timing's off. most funds I talk to have tried some version of building origination in-house — analyst pulling from Pitchbook or Grata, maybe using ChatGPT to help qualify, dumping it into a spreadsheet. each piece kind of works, but there's no system of record tying it together. the people, tools and ideas are all disconnected so there's tonnes of wasted energy. been helping a fund like Mentmore work through that in a similar niche services vertical. curious if you've run into the same thing at Providus? — Russ
totally get it if origination infrastructure isn't top of mind right now — especially with two platforms to run and a new associate coming on. the funds I've seen crack it early just tend to compound deal flow in a way that's hard to replicate later. if it ever moves up the list, I'm easy to find. — Russ

Naimish - Saw the recent traction with Wold and MPS. Consolidating the architecture and engineering space requires a very specific kind of granular sourcing. I’m in similar weeds right now for a fund called Mentmore, mapping out HGV hire and maintenance depots. Different asset class, same fragmentation. I left growth equity to build the end-to-end engine that automates this heavy lift. We encode your thesis, sync directly with your CRM, and handle the full outreach cadence to book meetings with founders. Worth a brief chat about the stack?
