Connection Request

Hi Tommy — I'm from Zimbabwe, did M&A banking then growth equity at a European fund. Now running proprietary outreach to UK business owners. Put together a register of 322 UK companies open to sale — thought it might be relevant for Beach.

Cold DM (Sales Nav)

Hey Tommy, similar IB → PE background, though I was at Greenhill in London not coming through Cenkos and Bear Stearns like you. origination was always the same story for me — clear thesis, decent relationships, but no proprietary system of record tying anything together. the people, tools and ideas were never really connected. every deal virtually sourced from scratch, nothing compounding over time. curious if that's still how most funds operate or if I'm behind the times? — Russ

Hey Tommy, looks like we came up through a similar IB → PE path, though I was in London at Greenhill doing growth equity deals not building a deal-by-deal platform like you've done at Beach. the pattern I keep seeing with most funds is weirdly consistent — strong thesis, solid network, but no proprietary system of record. the people, tools and ideas are never really connected, so every deal is virtually sourced from scratch. nothing compounds on itself. curious if that resonates or if you've built something different at Beach? — Russ

Followup 1

hey Tommy — no worries if the timing's off. most funds I talk to have tried some version of building origination in-house — analyst pulling from Pitchbook or Grata, maybe using ChatGPT to help qualify, dumping it into a spreadsheet. each piece kind of works, but there's no system of record tying it together. the people, tools and ideas are all disconnected, so there's tonnes of wasted energy and everything ends up out of sync. been helping a few funds like Mentmore work through that. curious if you've run into the same thing at Beach? — Russ

Followup 2 (Breakup)

totally get it if origination infrastructure isn't top of mind right now — most funds have 10 things ahead of it on the priority list. the funds I've seen crack it early just tend to compound deal flow in a way that's hard to replicate later. if it ever moves up the list, I'm easy to find. — Russ

Hi Tommy — I'm from Zimbabwe, ended up doing growth equity for a European fund. Different path to buyouts and growth equity in uk smes, but close enough that we're probably looking at similar businesses. I run proprietary outreach to UK business owners — 300+ direct conversations across 10 sectors. I've put together a password-protected register of 322 anonymized companies open to sale across 10 sectors. I'm only sharing it with a handful of funds. want me to send it across? — Russ PS: if this isn't relevant, reply no and I'll leave you in peace. might even go for a walk.

Email 1B — The Give (A/B Variant)

Hi Tommy — weirdly similar-ish background. I did M&A banking then growth equity at a European fund before ending up in the SME origination world, not too far from where you sit. I now run proprietary outreach to UK business owners — 300+ direct conversations across 10 sectors. I've put together a password-protected register of 322 anonymized UK companies open to sale. You pick the sectors that matter, ignore the rest. Only sharing it with a small number of funds. happy to send the link if useful — just say the word. — Russ PS: if this isn't relevant, reply no and I'll leave you in peace. might even go for a walk.

Email 2 — Follow-up

Hi Tommy — in case this got buried. A bit more detail: I've built proprietary deal origination infrastructure for 20+ search funds and PE groups. Bespoke software that connects a system of record with research agents, scraping, thesis-matching, and multi-channel outreach (LinkedIn, email on private IPs, WhatsApp). All to get qualified replies. The 322-company UK register is one output of the pipeline. Here's the link — sample.searchloop.ai Want a quick call? I can walk through how I built this and share some of the actual names. — Russ PS: if this isn't relevant, reply no and I'll leave you in peace. might even go for a walk.

Email 3 — Follow-up

Tommy — going to assume the timing's off. I'll leave it there. Link's sample.searchloop.ai if you ever want it — always up for a quick call. — Russ PS: if this isn't relevant, reply no and I'll leave you in peace. might even go for a walk.
